Noah Jost, the first Naturweit volunteer in Romania
Article published on 27-11-2020
Noah is already in Romania since a month and a half now, let’s get to know a bit our first Naturweit volunteer:
„My name is Noah and I am a Naturweit volunteer at the „Gavrilă Simion“ Eco-Museum Research Institute in Tulcea. I am 22 years old and I finished writing my bachelor essay in Environmental Sciences over this summer.
I decided early that after my bachelor I wanted to take a year off from university. While looking for opportunities to expand my horizon, I found Kulturweit and got the chance to be selected for a half year nature volunteering service in Romania. Since I already volunteered for a year in the US, I knew about all the opportunities that volunteering in a different country brings. Being able to meet new people and their culture is a huge privilege. In addition, I wanted to find an opportunity to use some of my skills, already learned in university.
With my background as an environmental sciences student, I am very interested in the connections between humans and nature. That makes me very excited to volunteer in Tulcea, as it is a gateway to the UNESCO biosphere reserve Danube Delta. I am delighted to participate in the work of the museums and expand my knowledge about Danube Delta as an ecosystem, as well as its flora and fauna. Also, I hope that while living in Tulcea for half a year I will get an insight on the Romanian culture and language.
In my free time, I love to be outside in nature, I enjoy a nice and long hike. Furthermore, I am passionate about bouldering and climbing as sports and ways to connect to nature. While otherwise I can also enjoy a good book or movie in the cinema.
