August 12 is International Youth Day! The UNESCO Youth Programme emphasizes in its work that young people are not only beneficiaries, but also partners in finding solutions to the problems young people face around the world. They must be fully engaged in social development and be supported in this work by their societies. The UNESCO Youth Program aims to create a supportive environment in which this goal can be achieved, by bringing young people's voices to the forefront and encouraging them to take action.
The #YouthofUNESCO “My COVID-19 Story” campaign is part of UNESCO's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is meant to focus on young people - how they feel, how they act, how they thrive in these challenging times.
In recent months, young people have taken steps and developed creative ideas to cope, either by helping their community, finding innovative ways to learn, maintaining a positive spirit, caring for relatives and loved ones, and much more.
You can share your experience to the whole world! This is an invitation open to all young people to share their stories and inspire us all. Thus:
- Lovers of writing can share their story through a short text, introducing their testimonies here.
- Multimedia lovers can share their story with a short video here. It's simple, UNESCO has created templates. All you have to do is register and then submit your video.
And that's not all. Written and video testimonials will also contribute to the future project "Youth as Researchers - COVID-19", which will collect and consolidate knowledge and data about, by and with young people, around a series of key issues that arose with COVID-19.
