Romanian National Commission for UNESCO Hosts Round Table on MONDIACULT 2025 Outcomes
Article published on 09-10-2025Bucharest, 9 October 2025 — The Romanian National Commission for UNESCO organized a round table to discuss the outcomes of the MONDIACULT 2025 Conference on Cultural Policies, convened by UNESCO earlier this year. The event brought together representatives of Romania’s UNESCO designations, including Associated Schools (ASPnet), UNESCO Chairs, Associations and Clubs for UNESCO, and representatives of UNESCO Creative Cities.
On this occasion, the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO launched the Romanian translation of the MONDIACULT 2025 Outcome Document, aiming to make its key messages more accessible to national stakeholders and to facilitate the integration of UNESCO’s global priorities into local and national cultural strategies.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present and analyze the key results and recommendations of MONDIACULT 2025, which reaffirmed culture as a global public good and highlighted its essential contribution to sustainable development, social inclusion, and innovation.
Ms. Cristina Cotenescu, Focal Point for the 2025 Convention within the Romanian Ministry of Culture, delivered a detailed presentation on the conclusions of the conference and their relevance for cultural policies in Romania.
Participants exchanged views on how the conclusions of MONDIACULT 2025 could inspire Romania’s continued engagement with UNESCO and foster collaboration among national networks. The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of all UNESCO designations to advancing cultural diversity, creativity, and inclusive education.
