Romanian UNESCO Associated Schools' contribution to the
Article published on 09-10-2025The UNESCO Associated Schools Network in Slovenia and the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO invited the Romanian UNESCO Associated Schools' to participate in the pilot project "Wind of Peace" – a global initiative that aims to connect children and young people around the world and give them a common voice for peace and their future.
In a world increasingly affected by conflict and climate change, the mission of the ASPnet network – to build peace in the minds of children and young people – is more relevant than ever.
The Wind of Peace project began its journey in Slovenia and continues across borders, with each participating country adding a message of peace to the travel journals, which are then passed on to a neighboring country.
Each message is accompanied by a translation into English, French, or Spanish, and a video in which students convey the message in their native language and in the language of the recipient country. At the same time, the handover of the journal is marked by an event organized in collaboration with the neighboring country.
Romania was the sixth country to host the "Wind of Peace" journal, received from Croatia. The team from the Hermann Oberth Secondary School wrote: "Dear adults, we want to send a message to your hearts!". The full message can be read in the pages of the diary.
After its stopover in Romania, the diary continued the journey to the Republic of Moldova.
The entire journey can be followed on the project’s official Facebook page.
