Strategic Leadership and Sustainability in Education – Workshop for School Principals from the ASPnet Romania Network
Article published on 18-12-2025The UNESCO Chair for Business Administration at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, in partnership with the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, organized the workshop “Strategic Leadership and Sustainability in Education” from 12 to 14 December 2025, addressed to school principals from the ASPnet Romania Network.
The event aimed to strengthen educational leadership competencies and to promote an integrated approach to sustainability in education, bringing together representatives of academia, public institutions, and civil society.
The opening session featured addresses by Dr. Ligia Deca, Secretary-General of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, Prof. Dr. Tănase Stamule, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (ASE-FABIZ), Prof. Dr. Madlena Nen (ASE-FABIZ), and Ms. Simona Pavelescu, Executive Director of the Values in Education Association. Their interventions highlighted the strategic role of schools in society and the economic and social dimension of education.
Workshop sessions addressed key topics such as organizational culture and the human factor in education, sustainable schools, as well as vision and leadership in education, presented from the perspective of Ms. Alina Roșu, Education Consultant at the World Bank.
The program also included a dedicated session on financing educational projects and resource management, with presentations delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anca Bogdan and Ms. Maria Manuela Gheorghe, Erasmus+ Ambassador.
The event concluded with a roundtable discussion on “What Does the School of the Future Look Like?”, moderated on behalf of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO by Dr. Gabriela Gabor, Expert of the Education Subcommission.
The workshop underscored the importance of cooperation between educational institutions, academia, and institutional partners in fostering a high-performing, sustainable education system aligned with contemporary challenges.
